Multiply

“Multiply: Disciples Making Disciples” by Francis Chan is the book I just started. And, I have to say, I am loving it!

Because I feel the Lord is speaking to me in many ways right now, I feel called to share these realizations and heart changes with anyone that chooses to read these words (be it one, none, or a ton!).

Part 1: Living as a Disciple Maker starts with the quote on page 15, “Two thousand years ago, Jesus walked up to a handful of men and said, “Follow me.” Imagine being one of those original disciples.”

Wow… I really can’t. Or can I? In these past several weeks I have felt the gentle voice of God in my heart whispering “Go, follow me.” So it is kind of really strange and funny and surreal that this book would start off this way. But hey, it’s a book about making disciples, so what can you really say?

This book goes to share several great pieces of scripture to include Matthew 22:37-40 which reads:

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.

Well, needless to say these verses made me take action. I was thinking last week that maybe I should sponsor a child, given the heart I have for kids as well as the fact that money is super temperamental and I need to be sharing all I have with those that need it more. So I did.

Using Compassion, I prayed and searched for a child, and I found her. She is three and from Kenya, her name is Joy.

Hope and Joy… what a blessing from God! Please join me in praying for her and all of the other children that need the love of Christ in their lives.

Brothers and sisters in Christ, I know this was a short and choppy post; however, I do have massive amounts of writing to do for my American Politics class. The Lord blessed me with the time and energy to write this note to you, and I hope you find encouragement in the words He has given me. There is much more to come as I go through this book, so make sure you ‘follow’ my blog with the button on the bottom right to follow my journey in Christ! Peace be with you!
