Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for this day and for the time that I get to spend here in Your presence right now. Lord, in Colossians 2:2 Paul says ‘My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love.’ I ask that today You would give me the peace and understanding to rely solely on You and not on the judgments of this world.
God, please let me be a light for You today. Show me where You can use me and how I can bring glory to Your name, Father. Show me how to love others as You have shown Your love to me. Lord, my prayer is Paul’s prayer, that the people I interact with today will be encouraged in heart and united in love. All things are possible through You, God.
Lord, please bless the conversations and interactions I have today. Please tame my tongue from the harsh judgments that are tempted to pass over it, and please forgive me for the times I fail to show Your love through my words.
God, the grace that You have shown to me through Your son is so undeserved yet so humbling. Please never allow me to forget that I am no better a sinner than any other human being on this planet, for You have forgiven all of us.
I am tempted to harbor anger and bitterness. This temptation is destroying me, God. I need You to take it from me. The travesties of this world do not come from You, God, but from the sinning nature of mankind. Lord, forgive me for the times I blame You, and I praise You for the way You work through these fears and failures. Please continue to show me how to forgive and love others as much as You have forgiven and loved me.
God, I am my own worst enemy, and Satan knows that. Lord, clothe me in Your armor as Paul describes in Ephesians. Show me the way to continually pray for these traits, truth, righteousness, readiness, protection, and salvation, God… that is You. Thank You for blessing me with this confidence.
God, please give me the words to speak to all of the people in my life who are hurting. Lord, You work through everything, and though we do not feel ready for death, help us to turn to you in our anguish, confusion, and hurting souls. Allow my friends and sisters in Christ who are going through this pain to cry out to You, Abba, Father… Your grace is everlasting. Shadow them with comfort and love. Give them peace and tranquility for the future, and give them joy from the memories they have with those who are no longer with them.
Your path is not always clear to us, Lord, but we know your watch over us in all situations. You will not lead us astray or allow us to be tempted beyond our limit. Protect those, God, who are stepping out onto new paths; that they would be confident in Your promises and rely on You in their uncertainties.
Thank you again, Father, for this opportunity to be able to come to You with an open heart. Please give me the strength to share Your promises with others today, tomorrow, and for the rest of the days of my life. Thank you for my family, who I do not express my love for enough. Thank you for my friends, my brothers and sisters in Christ who I lean on daily. Thank you for my mentors, for guiding me in truth and wisdom. Thank you for the opportunity I have to live this day for you.
Forever be the glory to You, God.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
